Union School of Haiti, New K- 12 School, Petionville, Haiti, West Indies

The project goal was to create a complete campus for a new 600 student, K-12 private “American” school and to expand high quality education into the region.

The international team of architects and planners was lead by HADP Architecture. The firm’s goal was to improve the educational opportunities available to K-12 age children in the region and to result in the improvement of the quality of life in Haiti. On virgin site in Haiti set in a hilly region of Petionville, Haiti, a suburb of Port-Au-Prince, the site affords very little flat area on which to build. The innovative campus design consists of a central administration building on a plateau. From the centerpoint, the various buildings: high school, gymnasium, resource learning center, elementary school and kindergarten, radiate like spokes. This arrangement takes advantage of the views and breezes the site provides, as well as creating a series of activity courts between the buildings.
