Florida International University, University Park Towers, Miami, FloridaThe HADP goal for the project was to introduce contemporary apartment style student living into the heart of the campus and to design a building which would reflect the limited land area available on the campus. The massing of the building which begins with a 4-story section alongside the existing 4-story Panther Hall was designed to frame part of a 5-acre courtyard with similar height building. University Park Towers of the University Village Complex provides for apartment style residence facilities consisting of 495 beds with a total area of 205,000 s.f. This facility is comprised of three sections: a 10-story North Tower, a 10-story South Tower, and the 4-story West Wing. The 10- story towers provide for a gateway passage into the academic core of the campus. The first floor contains lounges, laundry facilities, a 24-hour front desk, and the Housing Office. Students reside on floors two through ten and each floor has a Resident Assistant. |
