Georgia College & State University, Bobcat Village II, Milledgeville, Georgia

The HADP goal for the project was to provide an affordable technically sound solution which blended into the architectural style of the Bobcat Village Phase I Housing and deliver the project on an extremely accelerated basis.

Bobcat Village Phase II is a 472 bed, privatized on campus student housing development at GCSU needed to support the housing needs of a growing student body. Earlier phases of housing had suffered from poor design and construction quality. The project consists of three and four story buildings on a steeply sloping site wedged between an existing intramural soccer field and a busy highway. The typical unit consists of 4-bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, a living area and a kitchen. A minimal number of one and two bedroom units are included to accommodate the varied housing preferences of the students.

Building amenities include elevator access to all floors of all buildings, laundry facilities centrally located on each floor, and enclosed air conditioned corridor access. Brick and stucco building facades, an abundance of windows, and close accessible parking create the environment of up-scale apartment living.

Each of the three buildings is ā€œLā€ shaped and oriented on the site to face the soccer field. The buildings also create a large landscaped quadrangle contributing to the overall campus feel.  The development includes a clubhouse that will be enlarged to include a meeting room and an extension to the pool deck. The project was designed and constructed in 15 months total time from contract to occupancy.
