University of Alabama, Ridgecrest South Residential Community & Parking Deck, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

The HADP goal for the project was to design a very large student residence hall in a manner which broke down the building into community groupings while blending into the traditional Georgian style of the campus.

HADP Architecture was awarded the fourth phase of on campus
student housing at the University of Alabama. HADP served as lead architect on team for the housing portion of the project. The project will be five levels of rooms on top of a three-story parking deck. The appearance of the building will mirror the style of the campus. The exterior materials will be brick and stucco with divided-light windows and shingled roof. The parking deck will be concrete and steel enforced. Being built on top of the parking deck will allow for “urban plazas” to surround the building. The plazas will offer a variety of seating options, paving patterns and tree planters. Also, a portion of the plaza will be planned for active recreation such as volleyball. The project also includes infrastructure improvements to the surrounding area, which had mostly been trees and overgrowth.
