Allen Wilson Terrace, Phase I, Decatur, GeorgiaThe HADP goal for the project was to breath new life into this corner of the community by transforming the site from a troubled worn out residential community into a vibrant and safe mixed-use blend of affordable and market-rate housing. HADP was selected for this major phased redevelopment project by the Decatur Housing Authority. The City of Decatur is experiencing an urban renaissance and has been awarded numerous times for its efforts in bringing new urbanism concepts to its city redevelopment efforts. Per the contract award, the scope of services includes site planning, design development, and a scheme of phasing the demolition and new construction of the existing units to a completed project containing multi-family units, clubhouse/leasing office, community center, and associated facilities. When done, 288 public housing units will exist, plus potentially up to an additional 18 non-public housing units. The units will be grouped in 3 story buildings and the elderly will have their own approximately 85 unit, 4 story building. |
