Windsor of Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, FloridaThe HADP goal for the project was to create a design that responded to both the program and the unique surrounding community environment. The Community is located within a 28,000+ acre Master Planned Community. Nearby residential neighborhoods in the community include rental apartments, townhomes, and single-family residences from $100,000 to golf course estates over $5 million. The master land plan includes many wetland areas, nature preserves, streams, and rivers. Development standards requirements ensure the infrastructure, architecture, and landscaping be of the highest quality. The community site also borders a wooded nature preserve/wetland to the north and a lake to the west. Wetland use rules, grading, retention, architecture, and density restrictions created many challenges for entitlements and construction sequencing. The design concept implemented is a tropical, West Indies theme that appeals to the surrounding Country Club developments in this geographical location. Exterior architectural detailing is replicated on the interior. By utilizing this specialty theme, the selected furnishings are more unique in style and substantially more residential in appearance. Granite was used throughout the building as the standard countertop material, both in the common spaces, as well as in the kitchens of the standard living unit. The resulting environment offers a “fresh” approach to assisted living consumers in the market. |
