American Airlines, World Gateway Terminal - Concourse D Extension, Miami, FloridaThe HADP goal for the project was to achieve the implementation of an extremely complex addition to an existing busy airport by providing 12 state-of-the-art international gates and meeting a schedule made necessary by the requirement of American Airlines. The Concourse D Extension is the HADP portion of the $2 billion North Terminal Program, American Airline’s ‘World Gateway’, which consists of a state-of-the-art terminal building that houses twelve international gates connected by international and domestic concourses on the second and third levels, providing shopping and upscale eateries, as well as the fifth level train station and guideway for the Automated People Mover at the top of the Terminal, totaling approximately 450,000 s.f. The terminal also houses all ramp level services including PCA, switchgear and emergency generator rooms, aircraft maintenance and aircraft stores offices, and the portion of the gate delivery automated baggage system that serves the gates. In addition, it includes 630,000 s.f. of apron and revised taxiways, phased addition and remodeling of underground fuel, fire lines, domestic water, sanitary sewer, power and data utilities. |
