City of New Port Richey, Recreation Center & Aquatic Facility, New Port Richey, Florida

The HADP goal for the project was to create a facility that would inspire and promote greater use of public recreational opportunity and serve as a focal point of pride in the community. HADP Architecture, Inc. designed this state-of-the-art community facility as the lead architect.

The project consists of a 37,000 s.f. multi-level recreation/activity center for the New Port Richey community completely replacing the existing recreation center and city pool. The project includes a two-acre water park with four separate pool facilities. The indoor facility will house two gymnasiums, a fitness center and meeting rooms. The aquatic center will include a kiddie pool, a six-lane competition pool, a diving pool and a plunge pool with a water slide and space to play volleyball or basketball in the water. The diving pool would be used by high school diving teams, lifeguards in training and water polo players who need deeper water for their sport. The full-sized plunge pool would provide space for teens to enjoy the water without crowding out young children or adults swimming laps.

The building will include a double basketball court and 2,000 s.f. exercise center, three multi-purpose meeting rooms for toddlers, teens, dance aerobics, karate, and other activities. The project design includes a multi-directional, multi-level plan with a dynamic roofline.
