Southern Division, NAVFAC, Weather Training Facility, Biloxi, MississippiThe goal for the project was to create a state-of-the-art meteorology facility that would effectively support DOD training needs. This 83,700 s.f. “high-tech” training facility houses all functions to instruct Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps personnel in meteorology. The three-story structure is designed to adapt as the technology in weather forecasting, teaching and equipment changes. The first and second floors contain more than 40 classrooms, a lecture hall, technical library, computer room, offices and instructor work areas, 20 applied instruction laboratories and computer training areas, mechanical rooms, storage area, receiving and shipping area, and a sentry station. The third floor houses the observation tower. |
