United States Coast Guard, Air Craft Maintenance Hangar, Opa-Locka Air Station, Opa-Locka, Florida

The HADP goal for the project was to provide a level of renovation that would transform the 60 year old facility into a new modern hangar for Coast Guard air operations maintenance and support.

The project included renovation of the HU-25 Fixed-Wing Hangar at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami at Opa-Locka Airport, Florida. The existing building was constructed in the 1940’s and modified over the years. This project was to renovate the entire building by constructing new maintenance shops, flight crew, berthing rooms, locker rooms, and upgrade all mechanical and electrical systems. A unique feature in the project included an Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) fire suppression deluge system for the whole hangar bay and new 400 linear feet of hurricane resistant roll-up fabric hangar doors. The hangar bay is approximately 43,000 s.f. and support areas are approximately 19,000 s.f. for a total of approximately 62,000 s.f.
