United States Navy, Military Family Housing

HADP teamed with GMH, Benham Companies, and Centex Construction to bring quality single-family housing to navy families throughout the Northeastern United States. GMH was hired by the U.S. Department of the Navy for the privatization of all Navy-owned housing in the Northeast region.

The proposed 50-year project is a part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative enacted in 1996 under which branches of the military can partner with selected developers to privatize family housing at installations throughout the U.S. to provide improved and affordable housing for military service members and their families. Privatization will involve the construction of high-quality homes, targeted renovation of other homes, the addition of community enhancing facilities and services.

Under the contract, HADP provided architectural design services for 4,460 units including duplex, townhouse, and single-family residences including:

  • 2,039 units at Naval Sub Base New London, Groton, Connecticut
  • 795 units at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island
  • 723 units at Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine
  • 227 units at Naval Support Unit Saratoga Springs, New York
  • 139 units at Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, New Jersey
