Florida Institute of Technology, Harris Village Suites, Melbourne, Florida

The HADP goal for the project was to design a residential complex for upperclassmen on the campus of Florida Institute of Technology offering the latest in collegiate living.

Designed by HADP Architecture, Harris Village is a cluster of three buildings providing accommodations for 382 students. Offering one, two and four-bedroom units, the 137,000 s.f. development offers apartment-style living with private bedrooms, a shared bathroom, kitchen and common living area.

The state-of-the-art buildings are one of the perks of being an upperclassman. Besides wi-fi, elevators and panic buttons in each room, the halls have high-tech features that may not be obvious at first. The five-story brick buildings were designed with the environment in mind. The walls and roof have extra insulation to help conserve energy, the air conditioner is supported by a cooling system that is energy-efficient, and extra devices have been installed to support cell phone coverage. Two multi-purpose rooms, laundry facilities, adjacent recreation areas, and a community plaza complete the development.
